PRAY FOR OUR BISHOP SEARCH

Our Diocese of Florida’s search for a new bishop is now underway. Join our bishop search committee in praying daily for God to raise up fit candidates for election to this highest and weightiest sacred ministry, taking a cue from our Book of Common Prayer (page 256):

O God, you led your holy apostles to ordain ministers in every place: Grant that your Church, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, may choose suitable persons for the ministry of Word and Sacrament, and may uphold them in their work for the extension of your kingdom; through him who is the Shepherd and Bishop of our souls, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

PROJECT LAZARUS FOOD DRIVE

On Sunday, September 21, 2025 after the 10:30 a.m. Eucharist, our Outreach Committee invites Holy Trinity members to meet in the parish hall to put together bags of food for the hungry of Gainesville, in response to Jesus’ call to feed the hungry. This event caps our yearly Lazarus Project, named for Jesus’ parable in Luke 16:19-31. In it, a rich man ignored the beggar Lazarus who lived on the street outside his house. After death, the rich man went to hell and the beggar went to heaven. The rich man begged for mercy but found none, because he had shown none to Lazarus while alive.

Starting August 31, 2025, please donate food or money to this project. Leave food in the bins in the back of the church. Turn in monetary donations marked for the Lazarus Project at the parish office, for buying food to fill in any gaps in the Project 5000 grocery list from Gainesville Community Ministry (GCM). The bags filled on September 21 will feed families of four for two days. Each bag will include:

  • Two cans of meat

  • Two cans of vegetables

  • Two cans of fruit

  • Two cans of soup

  • Two boxes of macaroni and cheese or rice

  • One box of dry soup mix

  • One can of baked beans or dried beans

  • One box of hot cereal

  • Two boxes UHT “shelf” milk or powdered milk

  • One can of evaporated milk

  • One jar of peanut butter

  • One jar of jelly

Rehearsal is most Thursdays from 7:30 to 9 p.m., then again on Sundays at 9:30 a.m. You needn’t know how to read music — but it helps!
