A Pastoral Reminder
We depend upon
you to notify us of any “trouble, sorrow, need, sickness, or any other
adversity.” Please do not assume that your church knows if you do not let
us know. We want to share in your happiness, joy, and life celebrations,
and need you to notify us in order that your Church Family might share with
you.
Ministry of the Laity
As a church
family, we care for one another in times of difficulty – this is the primary
pastoral care in Holy Trinity Church. The clergy has responsibility to
enable and empower this ministry of the church. In addition, the clergy
exercises specific pastoral ministries as noted below.
Personal and Spiritual
Counseling
A clergy person
is available to consult with you on a confidential basis about personal,
family, or faith concerns. There are also available laypersons with gifts
for pastoral care and spiritual direction. These persons have been trained
for these specialized ministries and are ready to respond when needs are
known.
Family and Individual
Psychotherapy
Professional
clinical services for families/individuals by a licensed therapist are
available at Holy Trinity’s Counseling Center. Contact Mary Saxon, LMHC,
CAP, NCC, MAC at 377-9333.
Illness
Please notify our clergy and the parish office, 372-4721, in case of
illness. We welcome requests for prayer or the laying on of hands and would
like to visit you in the hospital. Prayers for healing are included in the
prayers of the people during the Eucharist. Please make your requests for
visits to the Parish office, 372-4721.
Home Communions
We are happy to
arrange for Holy Communion at home, in the hospital, or elsewhere for
members who cannot easily attend services. Lay Eucharistic Ministers assist
the clergy with this special sacramental ministry.
Prayer Requests
Requests for
prayer by the clergy or Prayer Chain may be made before a service or called
into the parish office.
Ministry to the Homebound We
want very much to minister to those who are confined at home – through
visits by the clergy and regular contacts by laypersons (Christopher
Ministry).
Births
The guild of
the Christ Child celebrates the expectant family and the newborn child
through special prayers and celebrations. This program is for the expectant
family, the birth, and then the new family for the first three years.
Contact Vandy Thorpe.
Baptisms
Baptism is most
appropriate within the context of the Eucharist on a Sunday or other major
feast day. Traditional times for baptism are Easter, Pentecost, All Saints’
Day, the first Sunday after the Epiphany, and the occasion of the Bishop’s
visit. Baptisms may also be set at other Sunday services. Contact the
clergy in the Parish office, 372-4721.
Weddings
Holy Trinity
Church provides a program of preparation for Christian marriage. A brochure
outlining policies and procedures is available from the parish office.
Please give as much notice as possible before a wedding date is set to allow
for adequate preparation time. Call the Parish office, 372-4721.
Burials
Deaths should
be reported to the church as soon as possible. Services may take place
before or after the committal, or before or after cremation. Celebration of
the Eucharist is appropriate and interment of ashes is available.
Health Ministry and Parish
Nursing Health ministry at Holy Trinity is an intentional ministry
focusing on both healing and health, combining the ancient traditions of the
Christian community and the knowledge and tools of modern health care. Two
registered nurses and a priest make hospital, long term care and home visits
to minister to parishioners' needs. Health care advocacy, education and
counseling are available in addition to Holy Communion and prayer.
